HELEN GALTS Helen Galts passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the age of 89 years. Born September 19, 1912, Winnipeg, MB, resided at Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin Galts in 1978 who was from St. Andrews, MB; her parents Adam and Emelia Rosin; sisters, Ella Schoenberger of Dead Wood, AB, Wanda Miller of Edmonton, AB; and brother Walter Rosin and sister Martha Smith of Winnipeg. She is survived by sons, Ronald (Anne) of Vancouver, Gary (Catherine) of Winnipeg; and daughter Leona Dyson of Mississauga, ON; her sisters, Edith Paterson, Lillian Hay, Olga Slater of Minnesota; and sister-in-law Marge Rosin of Winnipeg. Helen leaves seven grandchildren, Colleen (Dave), Wayne (Shelley), Ronnie (Denise), Cindy (Greg), Nancy, Susan (Ron), Rob; and eight great-grandchildren, Joey, Samantha, Danny, Tyler, Josh, Madison, Jamie and Ethan. Helen attended Pinkham and Maple Schools and worked at Raemore Foods, Winnipeg Laundry, worked in the catering business and also at the Fort Garry Hotel. Helen was active in the P.T.A. at the Pinkham School and for fund raising at the McLean Mission. She held various offices with the Women Benevolent Association and enjoyed her time at her cottage at Twin Beaches on Lake Manitoba. Helen was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross where she sang in the choir, and she also sang at various other events during her early years. Helen will be well remembered for her collection of over 400 china shoes, which she treasured. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and aides at the Riverview Health Centre for the warm and loving tender attention given to Mum during her stay with them. We would also like to say thank you to the St. Boniface Hospital staff. What our dear mom missed on lifes highway, may she find in Gods haven of rest. May we follow in her footsteps. Theres no disappointment in Heaven, Mom. We will miss you more as time goes on. Love, your family A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 13 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Dyson, Wayne Galts, Ron Turek, Ron Galts Jr., Greg Sanders, Brian Smith and Joseph Brown.
