Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH (DOUGLAS) GARDNER Peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 7, 2002, Doug passed away at home with his loved ones at his side after a prolonged illness. Predeceased by parents, Bernard and Bridget and brother Harry. Doug leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Bertha; son Dr. Douglas Gardner; daughters, Annmarie McNeal and Karen (David) Nyhof; grandchildren, Chelsea and Quinn Gardner, Sterling and Kyle McNeal, and Lane and Lukas Nyhof. Also left to mourn is brother Jim (Anne) sisters, Bernice (Frank), Mary, Anne (Ken) and sister-in-law Eileen. Born in 1934 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Doug joined the Canadian Air Force and traveled extensively with his family throughout his service. He had a unique sense of humour and took pleasure in his grandchildren. Although Doug was geographically separated from his Newfoundland roots, it was never far from his heart. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in memory of Joseph Gardner may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
