Bill was born and raised on the family farm near Congress, SK. The dustbowl of the 1930s interrupted Bills schooling as his family moved to Hines Creek, AB where they homesteaded 160 acres. At age 17, Bill left Hines Creek and took up trapping and working in lumber camps followed by a stint on the railroad. Eventually he returned to work on his uncles farm in Saskatchewan. In 1941 Bill enlisted in the airforce. This career spanned 18 proud years. He commenced as an air frame trainee and when he left the air force his rank was that of Sergeant of Head Maintenance Hanger No. 10, Winnipeg. Shortly after his departure from the air force, Bill joined Systems Business Forms Limited in the Winnipeg plants shipping department and retired after 25 years as traffic manager. Bill was an avid sportsman, winning championships pitching for the R.C.A.F. baseball team and badminton team. He also enjoyed hunting. Bill and Mary spent their leisure time travelling throughout Canada, USA and Europe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. A memorial service celebrating Bills life will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow.
