Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD CARL RUDD It is with great sadness the family of Richard Rudd announces his passing death, at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the age of 65 years. His memory will be cherished by his dearly loved wife Dorothy; their two special daughters, Leigh Gray and husband Don of Winnipeg, and Cathy Cyr and husband Tom of Dauphin; and three adored granddaughters, Kaitlin and Megan Cyr and Breena Gray; as well as his sister Onalee Nagler of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents and his niece Lara Nagler. Richard was born April 13, 1937, in Calgary, moving to Winnipeg as a child and growing up in River Heights, attending Kelvin High School and the United College. He enjoyed his working days spent mostly in confectionery sales, starting with the Walter M. Lowney Co. and retiring from Nabisco Brands over 25 years later. His involvement in the community was extensive, devoting many years to volunteering especially at the Richmond Kings Community Club in its formative years. He coached hockey for 42 consecutive winters and many of his former players have kept in touch with him. Rich was never happier than when organizing a social function, sporting event or a fund raiser. He played hockey as well with a terrific group of guys, The Fort Richmond Old-timers who are still among some of his best friends. More recently he took up curling with the Nite Hawks and enjoyed their company immenselythe rink in the winter and golf in the summer, what could be better! Richard lived life to the fullest. He really enjoyed planning and taking his family on holidays whether camping, trips to the sun or more recently a cruise for the whole family which will always be a treasured memory. A devoted husband, a wonderful father, the worlds proudest grandpa and a loyal friend. He touched many peoples lives through sport, work, and volunteering but nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than one of his granddaughters telling him their latest plans or accomplishments. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, May 13 at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Ave., with interment at a later date.
