Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA MARIE AGNES CARRIERE (nee HOLLAND) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of the most beautiful, gentle and loving soul on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Central Park Lodge. Her long battle with Alzheimers has come to an end. Sheila was predeceased by her husband Joseph Edouard (Ed) Carriere in 1995; parents, Thomas and Barbara Holland; brother David Holland, brother Charles Bernard (Bun) Holland; sister Barbara Walker all of Halifax. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Julia Ricker, son Peter (wife Debbie), daughter Danielle, son Marc (wife Debbie) grandchildren, Robert, Nicole and Dana; brothers, Thomas (Tom) Holland, James (Terry) Holland, Clyde Holland; sisters, Madeline Wright, Brenda Dronyk, Virginia (Ginny) Holland, Lillian (Cathy) Pillon; and all of their families. Sheila was born on August 7, 1928 in Halifax. After a brief career as a secretary in a law firm, she married Ed Carriere in Halifax on November 5, 1955. During their marriage Eds naval postings took them to bases on the east and west coasts. After retiring from the service, they eturned to Eds hometown of Winnipeg and subsequently to Swan River and then Treherne. In the many locations that they lived Sheila was very active in the church and a member of the Catholic Womens League (CWL). Sheila was an avid bingo player and reader, and in the maritime tradition she was a great storyteller. She truly enjoyed her roles as a wife and mother. The last years of her life were spent in the care of Central Park Lodge in Winnipeg. The family wishes to thank the staff of Central Park Lodge for their compassion and care. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date in Halifax, NS.
