ANNE JEAN CHMARA (nee WASIK) August 10, 1914 - May 1, 2002 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother at Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her husband Peter Joseph in 1970; son Leon 1986; mother and father Anne and Stephan Wasik; sister Nettie Robinson; brothers, Joe, Harry and Paul Wasik and son-in-law Leonard Marchak. She will be lovingly cherished and remembered by her family, daughter Donna Johnson (Gerry) of Meleb, MB; daughter Joy Knysh (Paul) of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; grandsons, Dean Marchak (Diane) Dale Marchak (Cristal), Garret Knysh; and great-grandson Zachary (Dale and Cristal). Her fiesty nature served her well as she battled and won two bouts of breast cancer and at age 67, learned to drive a motor vehicle. Anne passed her drivers test with flying colours and bought herself a shiny new red car, which gave her great joy and independence. Anne gave her cheer and compassion everywhere she lived (Winnipeg, Gimli, Whitehorse and Meleb). She made many friends wherever she went. Sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their kindness, compassion and understanding for our dearest mother. At Annes request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service was held at Holy Family Cemetery and was officiated by Deacon Walter Knysh of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church. We will meet again. Your spirit has left but you will always be in our hearts. We love you. In mothers memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
