Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELLIE MARY MARTENS KRAHN (nee MARTENS) Peacefully, on May 11, 2002, at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Nellie Krahn passed away at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nellie was born near Rapid City, MB. She grew up in Manitou, MB, where she was baptized in the Manitou Mennonite Brethren Church. She married William Martens in 1948 and settled in Winnipeg where they raised their family. She was predeceased by their son David Martens in 1983; and by her husband William in 1994. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of five years, Henry Krahn; daughters, Marion (Bob) Olfert, Elenore (Hardy) Regier; daughter-in-law Viola (Joe) Scherbak; chosen daughter Ao (Phet) Phanthavongs; grandchildren, Jonathan Martens, Michael (Tracy) Martens, Kyle, Brandon and Dean Olfert, David and Lauren Regier, Nora and Bill Phanthavongs; and great-grandson Hunter Martens. From Henrys family, she leaves her stepchildren, Paul (Sue) Krahn and their children, Adam and Sarah, Lorraine (Joern) Muenster and Randy (Ruth) Krahn. Also left to mourn are Nellies brother David (Marguerite) Martens; her sisters, Helen Klassen, Hilda Epp and Joanne Coulter. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m., at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church at 200 McIvor Ave., with Pastor Doug Enns officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 15, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Riverview Health Centre, for their care and support.
