FREDERICK WILLIAM McDONALD Peacefully on May 12, 2002, with his family by his side, Fred passed away at Concordia Hospital. Fred was born on June 25, 1921, and led each day of his life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy of 33 years and survived by his two sisters, Millie Ibey and Doreen (Jim) Young, as well as many nieces and nephews. Fred spent his early years in Brooklands- Weston area. He served in the R.C.A.F. from 1942 - 1945. Fred was an active member of Henderson Hwy. Legion. He retired from Moores Business Forms and after retirement took on a part-time job as groundskeeper and maintenance at Border Chemical. For 16 years Fred has spent the winters in Osoyoos, BC, where he made many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, bingo and had a great love for animals. Freds family are very grateful to Ruby, Dennis, Egan and the Border Chemical staff for all of their kindness and support they have shown Fred for so many years. A special thank-you to Alex Beels of the Palliative Care Unit whom in such a short time became a great comfort to all of us. We would also like to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital for all they did for Fred. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
