MICHAEL KOWALCHUK Peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2002, Michael Kowalchuk passed away at the age of 87 years surrounded by family. Michael is survived by daughters, Martha-Lee (Wolf) and Shirley (Lawrence) and granddaughters, Karyn Riesterer and Tamara Hadiken. He was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth Jean Karg in 1954. He later married Emilia Nestor who predeceased him in 1997. Michael is remembered for his solid support to his only son Michael John during his sons three-year cancer illness. Michael John passed away in 1984. In 1997, he helped daughter Shirley care palliatively for his wife Emilia at home until her death. Michael had a business partnership and owned Donald Auto Painting and Body Works for three decades until his retirement in 1976. He was creative with wood and metal work and loved to take long walks. Over the last few years he enjoyed the company of his devoted friend Frances Gravelines. Michael received excellent care at Unit 4 West, Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to Marilyn, Sam, Bob, Mark, Lisa, Tracy - just to name a few. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery with Fr.
