PETER McGILLIVRAY RAMSAY Born in Winnipeg, February 4, 1943. Peter passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 14, 2002. Predeceased by his parents, Cy in 1979 and Dorothy (McGillivray) in 1983. Peter is survived by his wife Garneth; his three children, daughter Shawna, sons Guy and Todd; brother Rick (Karen) of Vancouver, BC. Peter earned a BA (1963) and LLB (1967), both from the University of Manitoba. He was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1967 and immediately started to practice with Pitblado Hoskin. There, Peter was made partner in 1977, practicing in securities and trust and estate matters. Peter enjoyed many happy summers with his family and friends at his cottage at Clearwater Bay in Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Peter also enjoyed many happy (and some challenging!) rounds of golf with his pals at St. Charles as well as his membership for many years at the Manitoba Club. Peter was active in the community as past president Manitoba Chamber of Commerce, former director Ducks Unlimited (Canada), past chairman/director Knox United Church, past director Junior Achievement, past Vice-President St. Charles Country Club. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and consideration in affording Peter every comfort and dignity in the final hours of his life. A memorial service to celebrate Peters life will take place at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton St., Thursday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Peter, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
