Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE NEVILLE READ It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, George Read, at the age of 78, on May 13, 2002. George was predeceased by his wife Barbara Helen (Hogan) in 1998; and his son Edmund George in 1953. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Paul (Darcy), Barbara Lynn Hirose (Brent Shabbits), Patricia Sol (Ray Frey) good friend Linda Montgomery; his brother, James Read (Peggy) grandchildren, Adam, Alison, Grant, Jocelyn, Christopher and Corey; great-grandchild, Samantha; brother-in-law John Hogan; sisters-in-law, Francis Gordon, Mary Lamond and Helen McMurray; many nieces and nephews and great neighbours. Dad was a doer! He did many tasks well: golf, curl, make wine, cook, laugh, be charming, entertain, create beautiful and practical things with his hands, hug, shake hands, smile, dance, give of himself, kibitz, love, and cry. Dad was a man with a great sense of pride and of humour. He had integrity and compassion. He was a gentleman who lived life to the fullest. Dad, you met lifes challenges with courage and determination. This approach in life will help us with our own challenges and you will always be in our hearts. We love you. There will be a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. A reception will follow the service. In Dads memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8, or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
