Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHARINA A. (TEENY) VANDENBERG (nee KOOPMANS) Peacefully surrounded by her family on May 13, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Concordia Hospital at the age of 71, our dear wife, mother and grand-mother went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Teeny is survived by her loving husband Peter, of 49 years; her children, Rita (Blair) McCorrister, Blandina (Henry) Westervelt, Peter (Esther) Vandenberg and Sylvia (John) Veldman. She was also very close to all her grandchildren, Heather (Spencer), Chris, Laura, Darryl (Kim, daughters, Katelyn and Harleigh), Alisa (James), Benita, Nathan, Louise, Colin, Carla, Gayle, Jessica, Jordan and Steven. She is also survived by her brother Joop (Audrey) Koopmans of Penticton, BC and sisters, Alyda Brink of Nanaimo, BC, Nettie Dawe of Wadena, SK and Ali (Henk) Denie of Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Blandina Koopmans and her two brothers, Dirk and Henry Koopmans. Teeny was born in Ermelo, Netherlands on April 22, 1931, the youngest of seven children. She immigrated with her parents to Wadena in 1948 and later settled in Winnipeg where she married and raised her family. Mom was a very active member of the Transcona Christian Reformed Church and was involved in many aspects of church life throughout the years. Her church family meant a lot to her, especially meeting the ladies at the Wednesday morning bible study. Some of the things mom loved to do were bowling, camping, travelling and enjoying the beauty of nature. It was a life spent devoted to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank our many friends and relatives who supported us with their loving prayers, visits, cards and flowers throughout this difficult time. We would also like to thank all the staff at Concordia Hospital, especially those on N3W and the oncology department for all their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Transcona Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Bill Tuininga officiating. Viewing will be one-half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
