He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emily (nee Doll) their family Tryggvine Emily (James), Kristjan (Jo Ann), Maurice, Dennis (Nutke), Brian, Fred; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Kari was born on September 5, 1915, in Glenboro where he grew up within a large extended family. He and Emily established their home in Riverton where Kari worked for many years as a commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg. He also fished at Great Slave and Wolloston Lake. He was skilled at boat repair and carpentry at which he worked between fishing seasons. Prior to retirement Kari and Emily lived in Winnipeg before moving to Gimli in 1992 when Emily developed health problems. His passions were his family, his friends, his love of fishing and navigating the lake. In recent years he loved reading, especially history; as well, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted companion to his wife Emily and helper to all at the Betel Home where Emily has resided for many years. In recent weeks Kari has been blessed with visits and care from his sister Emily, countless family and friends and the prayers and wishes from family and friends afar. The family thanks the doctors and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, the Johnson Memorial Hospital and the many dear friends Kari had on the staff at the Betel Nursing Home.
