DORA SLOBODA (nee Bodnarchuk) Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 in Brandon, MB. Dora Sloboda (nee Bodnarchuk), aged 87 years, of Brandon, formerly of Rathwell, MB, beloved wife of the late Steve Sloboda. Dora was born on June 18, 1914 in Vita, MB. She attended school in Roseisle and married Steve in 1935. Together they farmed in Rathwell until retiring in the 1980s. They continued to live in Rathwell until 1986 when they moved to Brandon, where Steve passed away shortly after moving. Gardening was always important to Dora and she was a country girl at heart. Dora was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and family was very important to her, crocheting many afghans for her family. Dora leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, Marion Decosse and Edith Thordarson; six grandchildren, Mark (Tracy) DeCosse, Heather Colcomb, Randy, Tim and Robert (Lisa) Thordarson, Laura Lee and Dean Marion; seven great-grandchildren, Chris and Meaghan Colcomb, Alex, Halle and Carli-Ann Marion and Erec and Tia Thordarson; four brothers, Steve Bodnarchuk, Gordon (Evelyn) Bodner, Walter (Alice), Jerry (Phyllis) Bodnarchuk; one sister, Mary (Allan) McClelland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Steven of 51 years; two sons-in-law, Maurice Decosse and Erec Thordarson; parents, Alexander and Katherine Bodnarchuk; sister Elizabeth (Frank) Lloyd and sister-in-law Reta Bodnarchuk. Prayers will be said from the Budz Funeral Chapel, Holland, MB, on Sunday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. Claude Catholic Church, St. Claude, MB, on Monday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Claude, MB. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Doras memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. T.J.
