MARTIN SHANE November 10, 1922 - May 14, 2002 Suddenly on Tuesday, May 14, 2002, Martin Shane, husband of Rose (Raeve). Survived by his wife Rose; children, Dr. Edward Shane (Nili), Florence Zamick (Sheldon) grandchildren Sara and Leora Shane, Steven and Natalie Zamick. Martin was born in Lublin, Poland, November 10, 1922. He endured unbelievable hardships. He went to work at 12 years old to help support his family. He survived five death camps in the Holocaust where he lost his father, mother and two sisters right before his eyes. He learned to be a farmer, tailor, fur dresser, barber, carpenter and taxi cab owner. He had great zest for life and loved to travel. He would cut off his right arm to help a friend. He was very devoted to his family. He was not only a survivor but was a winner and a true hero to his family and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chesed Shel Emes, followed by interment at BNai Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sheldon Zamick, Steven Zamick, Ben Haber, Zvi Gordon, Frank Dahle and Marc Fayerman. Donations can be made to the Holocaust Museum, 123 Doncaster St.
