W. RALPH ATKINSON

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryW. RALPH ATKINSON Peacefully, with his family by his side on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at the Betel Home, Ralph Atkinson, aged 80 years of Selkirk. Ralph was born on the family farm in Saskatchewan, moving to Pilot Mound at an early age. It is here he grew up and eventually met and married Jean in 1947. Together they moved to Selkirk in 1951 and Ralph worked for Browns Bakery until they closed. He then started working at the Selkirk Mental Hospital in 1966 until retiring in 1984. Ralph was an active member of the ANAF Unit 151 having served as President and also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 42. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, daughter Sheila, sister Leona and brother Earl. He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Gaile (Brad) Stefanson of Selkirk, Heather (Clint) Rempel of Carman, Carol (Malcolm) Thomas of Brandon and Dulcie (Mark) Sinclair of Grand Marais; one son David (Kim) of Selkirk; his sister Dorothy (Morley) of Pilot Mound and brothers, Orville (Dulcie) of Selkirk, Lorne (Rita) of Vancouver; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Fraser Hunter officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service. Cremation will follow and private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Pilot Mound. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
