Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARVIN WILLIAM COLBURN May 14, 1925 - May 19, 2002 On Sunday May 19, 2002, Marvin peacefully passed away, with his family by his side. Leaving to cherish his memory, his loving wife Pearl; two sisters, Madelene and Len Doerksen, Marlene and Barry McGhie; two sons, Mitchell and Lillian, Patrick and Kim; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin was born on May 14, 1925 at 697 William in his parents home. He started his working career as a paperboy for the Winnipeg Tribune, and then had an apprenticeship with the C.P.R. to become a boilermaker. He then made his greatest life decision and married his only love and soulmate Pearl Dorval in 1943. After his service in the Armed Forces he returned to the C.P.R. Marvin and Pearls family grew with Mitchell in 1946 and Patrick in 1950. He later worked as a stationary engineer for Carling Brewery and then at Red River Community College from where he retired in 1990. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie 23 and longtime member of the Army Navy Unit 60. Marvin enjoyed going to church with Pearl and donated his time picking up Teddy Boxes for Annie A. Bond Guild of the Childrens Hospital. Marvin was an outgoing person. He loved people. He remembered everyone he met, and everyone remembered him. The family would like to send special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the 5th floor medical ward and I.C.U. of the St. Boniface Hospital, and Riverview Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Childrens Hospital on behalf of Annie A. Bond Guild. God saw you getting tired The cure was not to be, So He closed His arms around you. And whispered Come to Me You suffered much in silence, Your spirit did not bend. You faced your path with courage, Until the very end. You tried hard to stay with us, Your fight was all in vain. God took you to His loving home, And freed you from all pain. A lump forms deep within our chest, And tears begin to flow. If love could have saved you, You never would have died. Gods garden must be beautiful, For He only takes the very best. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
