RONALD WILLIAM HERNTIER October 28, 1941 - May 18, 2002 Peacefully, on Saturday evening May 18, 2002, after a short stay in the hospital at Cobourg, ON, Ronnie passed away with his uncle and aunt, Willie and Marge Pischke; and good friends, Gord and Rita Bowman at his side. Ronnie was born and raised in Whitemouth, MB and left to work in northern Manitoba and northern British Columbia. In 1965, he became employed by Ontario Hydro, as a geology technician until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed his work, which took him to many parts of Ontario, and he valued the many friendships he made along the way. Ronnie loved being outdoors and when he was young, enjoyed swimming, playing baseball and hockey. Later on, his favourite pastimes included boating, power toboganning, gardening, and spending time at his cottage, but most of all - fishing (and talking about fishing). He liked playing pool, cards, curling, bowling, cooking, watching sports on television and talking to friends. He loved the various dogs he owned - the last one being his faithful companion, Sheena. Ronnie had a good sense of humour and liked nothing better than a good joke and a laugh. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Pischke) and William Herntier, his grandparents, many uncles and aunts and two cousins. He will be forever remembered by his sister Irene (Art) Biebrich; nieces, Debra (Lloyd) Rapke and their family, Loretta Biebrich; and nephew Thomas (Christine) Biebrich; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to all his friends and neighbours for their caring and kindness to Ronnie. A very special thank you to Willie and Marge Pischke and John and Judy De Boer for all their support and help. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, a donation in Ronnies memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Ron was a good friend to our family when we lived in Chub Lake. I was only a child then but I remember him well. We all spent time fishing with Ron, winter and summer. He was a good pal to my Dad who also loved fishing. Both my parents are gone now but Ron’s name came to me the other day. Sincere condolences.
