VIOLET (LENA) KOWALCHUK With her family by her side on Monday, May 20, 2002 at the East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB, Violet (Lena) Kowalchuk, beloved wife of the late David Kowalchuk of Beausejour, passed away peacefully. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Bill Kowalchuk, George (Joan) Kowalchuk both of Beausejour; her grandchildren, Todd, Curtis, Michelle (fiance Curtis Ramsden). Also surviving are her brothers, Mike and Steve of Winnipeg and Nick of Calgary; and a sister Annie Stefiuk of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her husband David; and by her parents, John and Anastasia Shymko; her sisters, Martha Staniland and Sophie Phillipchuk. Violet met and later married David on August 22, 1943 and together they farmed in the Brokenhead area before settling in Beausejour in 1964. When her health declined she then moved into East Gate Lodge where she resided until her passing. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff for their care and compassion, and to those who kept her company from time to time. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, with Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the Beausejour Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Todd Kowalchuk, Jack Kowalchuk, Curt Kowalchuk, George Kowalchuk, Bill Kowalchuk and Lawrence Trombo. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial Garden Fund in care of East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB.
