EDITH LORRAINE WAITE (nee PAGET) February 9, 1914 - May 19, 2002 Peacefully, at Calvary Place Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Lionel Waite; and three sisters, Enid Watt, Ruth Wardrop, Patricia Smerchanski; and one brother Archibald Paget. Lorraine is survived by one son Stephen (Phyllis) Waite; three grandchildren, Robert, Michael and Peter; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle. Also daughter Carol Taylor (John Pinkerton) and two grandchildren, Gordon and Brad. Mother was a private person who enjoyed the solitude of her own home until two years ago. The last two years of life were hard for her when she had to enter a nursing home and lose her precious freedom. Mother loved small children and babysat her grandchildren until they were grown. She always loved to hear of their lives and accomplishments. Mother fought hard to keep her independence, learning to drive late in life and taking a medical records course to help her look for work. Mother was a stubborn, gutsy lady and is at peace at last. Well miss you Mom. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
