FERDINAND (FRED) BORKOWSKY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fred peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2002 at the age of 74. Fred is lovingly remembered by his daughter Doreen, son-in-law Scott and grandchildren, Matthew and Kari-Anne Spring. He is also survived by mother-in-law Martha Singbeil; brothers, Lorenz Borkowsky (Bernice), William Borkowsky; sisters, Ida Grinke (Albert), Frieda Krentz, Erna Crowe (Bill) brother-in-law Art Schultz; sisters-in-law, Ruth Topnik (Gord), Helen Bettof (Alvin) brothers-in-law, Jerry Lange (Alice), Oswald Singbeil (Dorothy), Irvin Singbeil (Bernice). Also dear friends, Arnold and Gerta Petznik. Dad was born August 7, 1927 in the Bristol area near Steinbach, MB. As a young man he moved to Winnipeg where he worked at Maple Leaf Mills until his retirement in the early 1980s. Soon after coming to Winnipeg, he met Mom and they were married in 1952. In 1954 they purchased their first home where my father remained for the next 48 years. My father very much enjoyed tending his garden and keeping his yard neat and trim. He also enjoyed chatting with the neighbours of whom he became very fond of over the years. In the summer Dad would enjoy riding his bike to the park and his daily trip to Salisbury House for breakfast. Dad loved his grandchildren very much and enjoyed spoiling them at every opportunity. Pallbearers are Jason Singbeil, Don Bettof, Boyd Borkowsky, Barry Krentz, Allan Funk and Raymond Schultz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Church of the Cross or a charity of ones choice. Viewing will be held on Monday, May 27 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church hall. THE WORLD OF ETERNAL LIGHT We travel the River of Life, day by day, And its turns can bring many changes our way, But what may appear as the final bend Is just the beginning instead of the end. For beyond it, there lies still another land Where your loved one, directed by Gods own hand, Lives on, although physically out of sight, At peace in a world of eternal light. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
