MARY ROBERTS NOOZHEQUAY BIZHOO DODAIM Born on March 24, 1924, Mary Roberts, Noozhequay, Bizhoo Dodaim, 4th Degree Ogitchida Quay, Mishkodaybeshekee Quay of the 3 Fires Midewiwin Lodge, entered into the spirit world on Tuesday May 21, 2002, with all her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Roberts; brothers and sisters, Herman Atkinson, Alice Thomas, Eva Atkinson, and Willie Atkinson; and is survived by her children, Jan (Edwin), Carl (Millie), Joyce (Ken), Floyd, Gary (Sylvia), Glen (Marie), Sharon, Lynda, Dave (Hazel), Robyn, and adopted son Jackson (Karen) as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and all her Mide relatives across Turtle Island. Noozhequay dedicated her life to passing on her knowledge and teachings to those who sought it. She was a kind, unselfish Anishinabe Quay, mother, grandmother, aunt, and teacher to all those who came looking for the Anishinabe ways. She was a role model and touched many, many lives. She will be sadly missed. Traditional Wake started Wednesday, May 22 at Roseau Rapids. The Traditional Burial will be held on Friday, May 24 beginning at High Noon, officiated by Robin Green.
