BESSIE GILSCHLAG (STERN) On Thursday, April 25, 2002, Bessie Gilschlag passed away at the age of 93. Bessie is survived by her loving husband Max; brother Sid (Hilda) and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Echeal and Rivka Stern; brothers, Lou (Goldye) and Morris and sisters, Anne (Fred) Schnoor and Sara (Abe) Satran. Bessie was born in Narol, MB on April 15, 1909. Her parents not only farmed but operated a general store and post office and for many years, Bessie was responsible for its operation. Bessie married Max in 1949 and together they operated several grocery stores over the next 35 years. A graveside service was held on Sunday, April 28 at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews, Jeff Schnoor, Toby Schnoor, Terry Gutkin, Shawn Gutkin, Jack Nepon and Tomer Schachar. Bessie was a kind and generous person and we loved her dearly. May she rest in peace. In Bessies memory, donations may be made to the Beth Jacob Synagogue or charity of your choice. The family of the late Bessie Gilschlag would like to thank family, friends and health care workers for their support, sympathy and condolences during our time of sorrow.
