CHRISTINA ELIZABETH LAMBERT (nee GORDON) February 1, 1912 - May 21, 2002 Beloved mother and grandmother. This loving woman died the early morning of May 21, 2002 after a gallant struggle with her family at her side. She had many wonderful qualities including her generosity of spirit, her kindness, curiosity about the world, her gentleness, her modesty, and her devotion to her family. We miss her tremendously but are comforted in the belief that she is now with our father, Ernest Lambert, who predeceased her in 1985. Mom was born in Hepworth, ON, the youngest in a close-knit farming family of seven children. She was trained as a teacher and then as a nurse, working in Toronto prior to her marriage on September 2, 1942, to Ernest Lambert. Afterwards, she spent her life caring for her family. She is sadly missed by her children, Glenna, Carolyn, Lynn (Rob Litt), and George and her grandchildren, Sean and Nancy Lindsay and Brendan and Hayley Litt. Mom was an avid reader, a lover of game shows such as Jeopardy, and a superb cook and baker. When our father was alive they loved spending time at their cottage at Granite Lake where Mom would climb the hills to pick blueberries well into her 70s. Her mouth-watering blueberry pies are well remembered by her family. Life was difficult for Mom after she broke her hip in April 2000. However, she valiantly struggled and continued to provide love and comfort to her family as best she could after her stroke. Honouring her wishes, a small family service was held on May 23. If people so choose, donations can be made to the Red Cross or a charity of your choice. Thank you. This poem was chosen by our mother for our fathers obitbulkloaduary and was meaningful to her and to us. When I must leave you for a little while, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years, But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name Live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days, But live each waking hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you.
