ELGY (ELBOURNE) MERRICK With great sorrow we announce the passing of Elgy Merrick on Tuesday May 21, 2002 at Deer Lodge Centre. Predeceased in February 2000 by his wife of 53 years Margaret, he is survived by his daughter Janice Merrick; son Larry (Charlene) grandchildren, Rob Sandell (Amanda), Jana Slimon (Jamey) and great granddaughters, Vienna and Annika. Dad lived life to the fullest until emphysema curtailed his activities. Dad served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He started his career with Salisbury House in 1946 serving their famous "Nips" at the old bus depot. His hard work was rewarded with numerous promotions from managing the Kenora Sals, the Winnipeg Airport Sals and moving to Area Manager. After 37 years, he retired from Salisbury House as Manager of Personnel. Dad was president of A.N.A.F Veterans No. 1 from 1963 to 1966. He enjoyed bowling, curling, golf and all the other activities at the club. Cremation has taken place. There will be a service of remembrance at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway on Friday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or to a charity of ones choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the 4-west staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their excellent care. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
