EVELYN BARDARSON Peacefully, after a lengthy illness on Thursday, May 23, 2002, Evelyn Bjorg, aged 77 years, beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are children, Carol Gudmundson (Roy) of Riverton, Lillian Hess (Wayne) of Arborg, Dennis Bardarson of Brandon, Valdine Bush (Clarence) of Beausejour, Lorna Smith (Todd) of Winnipeg; her much loved grandchildren, Michael (Lynne), John, Mark (Dana) Myrowich, Jacquie (Dave), Lorne (Dolena), Susan (Dan) Hess, Tierney and Darian Smith; her six great-grandchildren and their great-grandfather Hernet Bardarson. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Valla and Laugi Johnson of Hnausa; her brothers, Edward and Marvin; sisters, Bernice Moroski and Rosa Tomasson and son-in-law Mike Myrowich. She is survived by her brother Wallace Johnson; sisters, Thorey Johnston (Mitchell), Kristine Rutledge (Ken) and Eleanor Johnson. Born 1924 and raised in Hnausa, Mom moved to Arborg in 1954 where she actively participated in the Lutheran Church for 31 years, and worked at the Arborg Drop-In for 16 years as an accomplished baker. Moms greatest treasure was her family for whom she spent hours creating sweaters, afghans, cross-stitched pictures, and vinatertas. She delighted in many activities including Up Words and card games to playing golf and her love of music took her to Winnipeg for symphonies and concerts. Mom enjoyed life and made many friends in Beausejour during her frequent stays with Valdine and Clarence. We wish to extend sincere gratitude to Drs. Muller and Van Wyk and the nursing staff of Arborg and District Health Centre and to those who provided home care services. Our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Trudy Sluth. Funeral service will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 27. Pastor Trudy Sluth officiating. Interment will follow at the Hnausa Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, contributions may be made to Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Hnausa Cemetery, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
