MARGARET KENNEDY Margaret Kennedy of St. Norbert, MB, and formerly of Onanole, Erickson and Pine River, MB., passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, in the St. Norbert Personal Care Home at the age of 57 years. Margaret was born in Pine River, MB, on November 7, 1944 to Michael and Jennie (Toporowski) Prysiazniuk. She received her education in Pine River and attended high school in Ethelbert. Following her education, Margaret worked in Winnipeg, MB for a short time. On August 7, 1964, she was united in marriage with Milton Kennedy at Pine River, MB. They resided in Pine River where they raised a family of two daughters. In 1981, they moved to Erickson, MB, where Milton was transferred with his employment as Hydro Supervisor for that district. It was during this time in 1990 that Margaret decided on a career in nursing and attended Brandon Assiniboine Community College, where she received her diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She pursued this career until August of 2000. With the loss of the love of her life Milton in April of that year, she found it too difficult to continue her involvement in the health services. In 1993, following Miltons retirement from Hydro, the moved to Onanole, MB, where they enjoyed their new home near Clear Lake in all its natural beauty. Margaret was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, oil painting and cooking for family and friends. Her family life was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother who never forgot special moments in the family circle. Margaret leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories, her two daughters, Shannon (Myles) Duff of Winnipeg, Shayla Kennedy of Fort Frances, ON; grandsons, Connor, Cameron and Ryan Duff; sisters, Shirley Prysiazniuk of Winnipeg, Nettie (Edward) Pretula of Gilbert Plains, MB, Vicky (Ray) Dzikowski of Swan River, MB, Jeanette (Steven) Shewchuk of St. Francois Xavier, MB; brothers, Peter (Beryl) Pressey of Winnipeg, Taras (Gladys) Prysiazniuk of Nanaimo, BC, Russell (Barbara) Pressey of Athens, Georgia, USA, Hellar (Shirley) Prysiazniuk of Pine River, MB; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Milton on March 30, 2000; her father Michael in 1994; her mother Jennie in 2000; a sister Celia Pankiw; and brother-in-law Anthony Pankiw. A prayer service will be held on Friday evening (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel, Dauphin, MB. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Pauls Anglican Church, 404-1st St. S.W., Dauphin, MB, Rev. Paul Crossland officiating with interment service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery at Carman, MB. Rev. Brad Elliott will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Steinsvik, Darren Pretula, Warren Shewchuk, Bob Bullard and Bob Mitchell. Should friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
