MARY JULIA BURTON On Wednesday, May 22, 2002, Mary, our mother and friend, passed away at her home in Calgary, AB, at the age of 74 years. Over the years Mom had worked at Chomedey High School in Montreal, Motor Coach Industry in Winnipeg, as well as Canada Safeway Limited until her retirement. She was an avid pool player and loved to beat anyone who challenged her. Mom and Dad were members of Legion No. 141 in Winnipeg as well as the Legion in sunny Largo, FL, where they enjoyed many winters together. She just loved to feel the sun on her face and the sand between her toes. Their summers were spent at the cottage in Petersfield and visiting cousins Maurine and Bob Prime in Prince Edward Island. Mom was a very generous and giving person and visitors to her home were greeted with a plate of food and a drink and she wouldnt take "no thank-you" for an answer. She was predeceased by her best friend and husband Barry on January 7, 1998; and by her parents, Stephen and Anna Kwasnycia. Barry and Mary were married in September 1956 in Winnipeg and went on to raise nine children: Karen Brophey (Don), Charles Amor (Bonnie), Lyle Christensen, Glenna (Glenn), Colin (Kathy), Todd (Deirdre), Darren (Roxanne), Laurie Parsons (Scott), and Kelly (Dave). Mom was also lucky enough to enjoy 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her cousin Joyce Dalkie and family will also sadly miss her. A special mention to Jim Parsons who became a good friend, who made her laugh and enjoy life in Calgary. A private family viewing will be held in The Chapel of Memories in Wojciks All Beliefs & Faiths Funeral Chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Moms memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
