ELSIE IRENE LONE 1926 - 2002 Peacefully, after a brief illness, Elsie passed away at Grace Hospital, May 23, 2002 at the age of 75 years. Born October 18, 1926 to Hank and Annie Lone of Mowbray, Elsie spent her formative years loving farm life, her team of horses and always her music. Elsie left the farm to work at Canadian News till her retirement. She worked to live and lived to play music. Elsie was very gifted and played piano, accordion, violin, banjo, saxophone, and many other instruments. Elsie had her own band, The Merrymakers, and travelled all over southern Manitoba playing for dances. She was always there to play for family sing-a-longs. Elsie spent her retirement years bringing music and friendship to "her seniors" at many city senior centres and nursing homes. Elsie was predeceased by her parents; seven brothers; two sisters; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; three nephews and three nieces. Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Doris Nield of Virden, MB, Mary Finley (Alvin) of Camrose, AB; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Lone of Vancouver, BC, Evelyn Lone of Manitou, MB, Audry and Mary Lone of Morden, MB; and brother-in-law, Doug Dodds of Souris, MB. 27 nieces and nephews; and 50 great-nieces and nephews remember her with love and envy of her musical talent. A special thank you to Dr. Borrett and the staff of 3 North Grace Hospital for care and compassion. A family graveside service was held Saturday, May 25 at the Jackson Cemetery, Windy Gates District, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
