Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN LOUISE SEDGWICK (nee PENONZEK) Mrs. Marilyn Louise Sedgwick, beloved wife of Kent and mother of Marla and Kyle, lost her lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 in Calgary, AB, at the age of 58 years. Marilyn was born in Russell, MB on December 22, 1943 and grew up in Erickson, MB. She met and married Kent in Winnipeg, MB in June of 1968. Marilyn was very involved with the Red River Exhibition and volunteered with several groups her children were involved with. In 1990 the family moved to Sioux Lookout, ON where they owned and operated family businesses until moving to Lethbridge, AB in 1997. Shortly thereafter they settled in Red Deer, AB. Marilyns last years were a struggle, although she fought hard with incredible strength and courage. She will be fondly remembered by all whom she touched as a person and friend, but most of all as a wife and mother. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Kent of Red Deer, AB; daughter Marla Sedgwick of Calgary, AB; son Kyle Sedgwick of Red Deer, AB; her mother Frances Penonzek of Winnipeg, MB; sister Gail (Ron) Thorpe of Winnipeg, MB; brothers, Larry (Diane) Penonzek of Gibsons, BC, Florian Penonzek and wife Margaret McFarland of Surrey, BC, Allan (Yvonne) Penonzek of Winnipeg, MB; brother-in-law Larry (Helen) Sedgwick of Winnipeg, MB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her father Louis Penonzek; grandparents, Max and Lillian Sabeski; grandparents, Bert and Margaret Penonzek; parents-in-law, Richard and Sara Sedgwick. A celebration of Marilyns life will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., south of the Royal Canadian Mint, Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, in care of Alberta Cancer Foundation, 1331-29th Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 4N2, telephone (403) 670-2433.
