STAN WILLIAMSON Stanley Joseph Williamson passed away Friday, May 17, 2002 at his residence in the Carrot River Valley, The Pas, MB with family and caregivers at his side. Stan was born Tuesday, May 17, 1932 at The Pas, MB, the 4th child of Melvian and Maude Williamson. He took his early schooling in The Pas, and later graduated in forestry from the University of New Brunswick. His entire working career was spent with the Department of Natural Resources beginning as a summer student in the bush, and working in virtually all departments, and in all areas of Manitoba. He felt he was so very fortunate to have had a job he loved all his life and to which he was so well suited. He retired in 1991, as Manager of the Northwest Region. He also took great delight in the outdoors - fishing winter and summer, hunting in the fall, and most of all getting out on the land on his farm. He created an environment for their home by planting trees, shrubs, gardens, and his grain fields. The last five years were devoted to seeing the beginning, and hopefully, the completion of a Rural Water Pipeline to the Valley, mostly in a voluntary capacity. He saw this as a historic development. Over the years he has served in organizations such as Boy Scouts, many years in Minor Hockey as Coach, Player, Referee, and Executive Member; the Cancer Society, The Sam Waller Museum, Mens Curling Club, and above all, the Westminster United Church. Stan is survived by his children and grandchildren, Mike (Debbie) Williamson, Lindzi Williamson, Cody Williamson; Kathie Williamson (Dale Edwards), D.J. Edwards, and Kristina Edwards; and their mother, Mary; by his wife Johanna; children of the heart, John Crockett (France), Benjamin and Elise; Donald Crockett (Joanne), Janna, Daniel; Sara de Tremaudan (Frank), Calder, Jason; Roddy Crockett (Sharon), Matt, Katie, Becky; Jim Crockett (Sue), Leah, John; two sisters, Dorothy Wellman and Marjorie Doobenen, of B.C.; sisters-in-law, Jean Macdonald, Jennie, Chad, Paige, of Portage; Katherine Macdonald, B.C.; and also by a host of friends who were very important to him. A Service of Remembrance was held Tuesday, May 21, 2:00 p.m. at the Westminster United Church with Rev. Dr. Marta Frascati Lochhead presiding. The Organist was Arlene Baschak. Immediately following the service a time of refreshment and fellowship was held in the lower level of the Westminster United Church. Honorary Pallbearers were John Karpan, Wayne Antichow, Bill Hatch, Bill Kaplanchuk, and Bill McLean. The family would like to thank Darby Johanson of the Palliative Care Unit and Home Care Nurses who made it possible for Stan to remain at home during this last month of illness and to Rev. Marta for her care of the human spirit. If friends so desire, donations made to the United Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 25, The Pas, MB, R9A 1K3 or to the Palliative Care Unit of St. Anthonys Hospital, P.O. Box 240, The Pas, MB, R9A 1K4 would be appreciated by Stans family. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas in care of arrangements, 623-3261 Spring winds Branches swaying ever green Enfold our spirits surely in the arms of God. New green Shadow dappled warming earth Springing freshly blowing like the word of God. Valerie Beckingham
