JOHN OLINYK August 29, 1909 - May 24, 2002 Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family - Lil, Marion and Paul, Adam and Joyce. Dad is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin, Crystal and Garth, and Shari; four great-grandchildren; as well as family in Canada and Ukraine. Dad was the last survivor of seven brothers and one sister and was also predeceased by an infant great-grandson. Dad was born in the village of Onyt, Province of Bukovina, Ukraine, immigrating to Canada in 1926. After his army discharge in 1943 he and Lil settled in Charleswood and was a self-employed landscape gardener. One of the original members of the Charleswood Legion, his comrades will provide the colour guard and pallbearers. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre for their loving care. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. with viewing commencing at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
