WILLIAM JAMES HADDEN William James Hadden was born Monday, June 12, 1916 at Douglas, MB. William grew up in the Douglas area. As a young man he worked on various farms throughout the Souris area. Although he did not complete high school he was determined to make the best of his life. He loved to tell stories especially of his early years, in the 1930s when he delivered milk by horse and wagon for $0.50 a day. Dad was proud to have built his own home in Winnipeg from start to finish. In the early 1950s Dad began working for the Province of Manitoba as an electrician. He was always happy to point out that he had changed the light on the Golden Boy of the Manitoba Legislature and was also instrumental in installing the lights on Memorial Boulevard, in Winnipeg. William was united in marriage to Mabel Margaret Remus, Friday, November 10, 1944 at Emerson, MB. Dad lived in Winnipeg, MB until moving to The Pas, MB in July of 2000. He loved curling, golfing, camping, traveling, and in particular, driving. Dad loved nothing better that to catch a stringer full of fish on Clearwater Lake on Thanksgiving Weekend in four foot waves. Dad was a lifetime member of the Canadian Order of Foresters, and the Masons. William passed away Friday, May 24, 2002 at St. Anthonys Hospital, The Pas, age 85 years. He is survived by his wife Mabel Margaret; children, Darlene (Vern), Linda (Steve), Ron (Debbie) grandchildren, Cheryl (Earle), Cynthia (Bob), Chris, Lyndsay, Leslie, Lisa, Jennifer (Greg), Allyson; great-grandchildren, Carmen, Dylan, and Brandon; sister Beth Fenske; sisters-in-law, Edna Streick and Ann Remus; brothers-in-law, Ewald Bohn, George Streick, Arthur Remus and George Remus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
