Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELENE KUHTEY (nee OGNOWSKI) Suddenly at St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, May 24, 2002, Helene, beloved mother, grandmother, baba and great-grand-mother passed away at the age of 84. Born August 23, 1917 to Anna and Kasper Ogonowski in East Selkirk, MB. She grew up on the farm and moved to Winnipeg as a young girl. Helene worked for a brief period at a private boys school in St. Catherines, ON, St. Boniface Hospital, Moores Restaurant, and at The Bay for 27 years, retiring in 1982. She married Nicholas Kuhtey on June 24, 1939 at St. Boniface Cathedral and had five children: Lydia, Robert, Gordon, Herbert, and Marianne. Helenes life journey was not an easy one but she overcame many obstacles because of her strong and determined spirit. Her greatest joy was her family and their achievements were a source of pride to her. Helene was predeceased by her son Gordon in 1991, her father in 1961 and mother in 1981. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Lydia (John), Marianne (Tony) sons, Robert (Dian) and Herbert; much loved grandchildren, Jade (Ursula), Amber (Ken), Justin (Camie), Lindsay (Kathy), Justa (Jon), Tracy (Shane), Kathy, Shelley (Damien) and April; as well as 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Horoshok and Adele Trojan; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31 in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, located at 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
