PETER KOROL Suddenly on Sunday, May 26, 2002, Peter passed away at the Concordia General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, and several brothers and sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose of 60 years; daughter Trudy (Gerry) Holowchuk; and grandchildren, Lisa, Laura (Craig) Finlay and Peter; sisters, Annie Hull and Jean Crook; brothers, Joseph and Wally; and extended family and friends. Peter and Rose spent the early years of their marriage as owners and operators of Gateway Grocery in Morse Place. After serving in the Army in the Second World War, Peter began his employment at CP Rail wiping down steam engines and loading coal. He worked his way up to engineer for the railway and retired in 1984. He then became actively involved in the CP Rail Retirees Association. Peter and Rose enjoyed warm weather, with many winter trips to Hawaii, and spent summers at their beloved cottage at Grand Beach: "Korols Korner". Peters many hobbies over the years included fishing, bingo, bowling and square dancing. Peter was well known by many for his sense of humour and was always telling jokes to everyone. Peter was a quiet, kind and gentle person who enjoyed the simple things in life, and making people laugh. He will be fondly missed by his friends and family. Special thanks to the paramedics of the Winnipeg Ambulance Service and the staff of the emergency department at Concordia Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with viewing one hour prior, with Fr. Darren Kawiuk officiating. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peters memory may be made to the Concordia Adult Day Club, 1100 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 4B8.
