ELIZABETH CAROLINE PORTNOY (KORFMAN, CROSS) It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful death of Elizabeth Caroline on May 22, 2002. It is also with feelings of joy and thankfulness; for being able to share in her life and to be surrounded by her love. She was predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Jacob Korfman; husband Ernest Lynol Cross (1936) husband Nathan Portnoy (1975) sisters, Katie and husband Ed Hopp, Eva and husband Henry Pachal; brothers, John, Dan, Jack and Fred Korfman; brothers-in-law, Montie, Joe, Charlie and George Cross; sisters-in-law, Jean Abey, Hester Toland, Eunice Chapman, Sadie Musick, Violet Brown, Ruth Cummings and Hattie Benson. She is survived by sister Annie Cross; sisters-in-law, Katie, Margaret and Vena Korfman; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. One daughter Ernestine (Jim) Grose; grandchildren, Ardith (Rob) Hammerling, Jeff (Helga) Grose, Cameron (Cleo) Grose; four great-grandchildren, Chantel and Alyssa Hammerling, Jenna and Ashley Grose. She was more than a sister, mother and grandmother; she was a best friend. Her family was the most important part of her life. She loved visits, to sit and share lifes journey with us, and we will all miss her so very much. We hope she always knew how important a part of our lives she was, and will always be, as we cherish our memories and the love we shared. Rest in peace, dear Mum, you are forever loved. Dear friends and relatives remember her well, keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She was a grand lady. In respect of her wishes, a family service of remembrance has been held. Flowers are gratefully declined. If it is your wish, a memorial donation may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the church of your choice, in order that Gods work may continue and someday we will all live in peace.
