RONALD FRANCIS MATHIESON, CD* Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly Monday, May 27, 2002 in the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 69 years. Ron is survived by his loving wife Pat of 45 years; daughter Sharon; son Donald; grandson Aaron; brother Jeff (Dot) brothers-in-law, Neil (Ellen), Murray (Cheryl) mother-in-law Janet Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Jack and Elsie Mathieson; and brother Gordon. Ron was born on November 6, 1932 and resided all his life in St. Vital. He began his career at C.P.R. Weston Shops as a machinist and retired as Quality Control Supervisor in 1989 after 40 years of service. Ron devoted many years at HMCS Chippawa and served as a Sea Cadet Officer retiring in 1976 as Commanding Officer of RCSCC QuAppelle with the rank of LCDR CD. He served a term as president of the Navy League of Canada - Winnipeg Branch and currently was a member of the Naval Officers Association. Rons favourite pastimes were curling and bowling during the winter months and especially spending time with family and friends during the summer at Lake Malachi, ON. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road, with Rev. Fred Lynch officiating.
