JAMES GLADWYN MURRAY On Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, James Gladwyn Murray, aged 81 years, beloved husband of Jean Murray, of Miami, MB. James is survived by his wife Jean, one son James A. (Barbara) Murray of Miami, and two daughters, Susan (Ralph) Morrow of Holland, and Allison (Gerry) Forrest of Winnipeg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeffrey and Michael Murray, Rodney and Derek Morrow, and Todd, Scott, and Kara Forrest; one sister Claire (Stewart) Goldstone; and numerous nieces and nephews. James G. Murray was born May 5, 1921 at Altamont, MB, son of James Murray and Maude Evelyn Minor. After growing up in Marquis and Etonia, SK, and Swan River, MB, Jim joined the Air Force in 1941, went overseas in 1943, and returned in 1945, after which he was employed by the Monarch Lumber Company in Miami, Boissevain, and Wawanesa, MB. He returned to Miami in 1953 to replace J.A. Kerr as Secretary-Treasurer of the Municipality of Thompson, a position he held until his retirement on July 31, 1986. He also operated an insurance business for Wawanesa Mutual and for Autopac. Over the years, Jim has belonged to the Masonic Lodge and Canadian Legion, and was instrumental in the formation of the Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association. Funeral service will be held from the Miami Community Hall in Miami, MB, on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Gilbert officiating. Interment will take place in the Miami Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 205 Edmonton St. Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1R4. Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
