RUTH OAKFORD Peacefully on May 29, 2002, Ruth Marie Oakford passed away at Stonewall Hospital at the age of 92. Ruth was born on January 17, 1910 on a homestead near Strand Post Office in Saskatchewan, near Preeceville. Ruth was the eldest child of Nels and Signe Heidahl. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ed, in 1993; her parents; brother Alf; two sisters, Grace and Pat. She is survived by her son Doug and his wife Lenore; grandchildren, Kirsty (Dan Morrison), Tannis, Jody (Gerry Jansen) their mother Bonnie Place; two stepgranddaughters, Robin and Sandy; their mother Diane Pearce; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Good and Evelyn Chalmers; two brothers-in-law, Robert Baxter and George Willox; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friend Margaret Jackson. A celebration of her life will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch to follow at the Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stonewall Hospital. Our thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Stonewall Hospital and to Home Care for their compassion over the past few months.
