LOUISE BERGERON REY (nee EMOND) Entouree de sa famille, Louise Bergeron Rey est decedee paisiblement a lhopital de St-Boniface le mercredi 29 mai, 2002 a lage de 78 ans. Elle est survecue par son cher epoux Louis Rey et ses huit enfants Hubert Bergeron (Claudine), Charlotte Kaminsky (George), Jean-Paul Bergeron (Carol), Marc Bergeron (Maureen), Jacques Bergeron, Gilles Bergeron (Lynn), Christine Bisson (Remi) et Francine Ayotte (Gerald) ainsi que les enfants a Louis, Marilyn Ouimet (Guy), Donald (Audrey), Monique Bockstael (John), Denis, Arthur (Jacqueline), Claudette et 34 petits enfants. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil ses soeurs Agnes Laurin, Jeanne Garand, Soeur Denise Emond, Gilberte Garand et son frere Yves Emond, ses belles-soeurs Leonie Damphousse et Lucienne Emond, ses beaux-freres et belles-soeurs du cote Bergeron et plusieurs neveux, nieces et amis. Elle fut precedee dans la mort par sa fille Jacqueline, Marcien Bergeron, sont premier epoux, sa soeur Therese Vermette et ses freres Marcien et Noel. Louise est nee le 19 septembre 1923 a La Broquerie, la cinquieme dune famille de neuf enfants de Joseph Emond et Dina Jolicoeur. Maman aimait beaucoup les etudes et appreciait leducation des soeurs Grises. Elle lisait beaucoup et avait gagne des prix au concours provincial en francais. Suite a ses etudes elle fut enseignante pendant un an a St-Laurent, Manitoba. De retour a St. Boniface elle travailla a la Banque Nationale ou elle pris gout aux chiffres et aux affaires. En 1945, elle epousa Marcien Bergeron et ils eurent neuf enfants. Maman et Papa saimaient beaucoup et vivaient pleinement les joies et les defis dune grande famille. Maman aimait chanter et elle participa a la chorale des Intrepides et a la chorale de leglise Precieux-Sang. Elle etait active dans la Ligue des femmes catholiques. Elle etait toujours tres amoureuse de son Marcien. Ils prennaient plaisir a se rencontrer avec leurs freres, soeurs et nombreux amis. La vie prit un rude arret le 20 avril 1972 quand Marcien deceda dans un deraillement de chemin de fer. Avec le soutien de sa famille, ses amis et sa grande foi, maman se prit en main et refait sa vie. Elle rencontra Louis Rey, son deuxieme amour. Ils sepouserent le 23 aout 1974 et sur la Waverley ils hebergeaient une dixaine dadolescents. Maman travailla aussi a H & R Block pendant 18 ans. Ce temps fut marque par les graduations, les noces et la naissance de nombreux petits enfants. Cetait souvent la fete chez maman et Louis. Apres sa retraite, maman et Louis jouissaient dune une vie un peu plus tranquille. Les parties de cartes, les quilles, le tricot, les rencontres avec les enfants et toujours la priere passaient bien le temps. Animee par une grande confiance dans le Seigneur, maman a toujours su semer lamour et la joie partout ou elle se trouvait. Son sens de lhumour, son esprit vif, sa comprehension des jeunes et des moins jeunes et sa generosite etaient une inspiration pour nous tous. Elle navait pas peur de mourir. "Le bon Dieu me connait" disait-elle. La famille aimerait remercier bien sincerement le personnel de lhopital St-Boniface pour lexcellent soin physique et spirituel, en particulier, Dr. Bracken et Dr. Wong et leurs infirmieres. Merci aux parents et aux amis pour leurs gestes daffection et pour leur soutien. Les funerailles auront lieu lundi le 3 juin, a 10h30 en lEglise Precieux-Sang, 200 rue Kenny, presidees par M. labbe Marcel Chaput. Le visionnement aura lieu des 10 h. jusquau service. Une ceremonie privee de linhumation des cendres aura lieu dans le cimetiere de St-Boniface a une date ulterieure. LOUISE BERGERON REY (nee EMOND) Surrounded by family, Louise Bergeron Rey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 29th of May, 2002 at St.Boniface Hospital. Louise is survived by her husband Louis Rey and her eight children, Hubert Bergeron (Claudine), Charlotte Kaminsky (George), Jean-Paul Bergeron (Carol), Marc Bergeron (Maureen), Jacques Bergeron, Gilles Bergeron (Lynn), Christine Bisson (Remi) and Francine Ayotte (Gerald), as well as Louis children, Marilyn Ouimet (Guy), Donald (Audrey), Monique Bockstael (John), Denis, Arthur (Jacqueline), Claudette and 34 grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Agnes Laurin, Jeanne Garand, Sister Denise Emond, Gilberte Garand; her brother Yves Emond; sisters-in-law, Leonie Damphousse and Lucienne Emond; her brothers and sisters-in-law from the Bergeron family, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Louise was predeceased by her daughter Jacqueline; her first husband Marcien Bergeron; her sister Therese Vermette and her brothers, Marcien and Noel. Louise was born in La Broquerie on the 19th of September, 1923. She was the fifth of nine children of Joseph Emond and Dina Jolicoeur. Louise loved to study and thrived under the tutelage of the Gray Nuns, taking top honours at the the provincial French competition. After graduation, Louise taught for a year in St.-aurent, MB. Upon returning to St. Boniface, she worked at the National Bank of Canada where she discovered a flair for numbers and business. In 1945 Louise married Marcien Bergeron and they had nine children. Mom and Dad loved each other very much, sharing a great zest for life and love for their family. Louise loved to sing. She participated in the Chorale des Intrepides and the choir at Precieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church. She was also an active member of the Catholic Womens League. Louise and Marcien took great pleasure in the company of their brothers, sisters and many friends. Life took a sudden and unexpected turn on April 20 in 1972 when Marcien was killed in a train derailment. With the support of her family and her faith, Louise carried on and continued to embrace life to its fullest. Louise married Louis Rey on the 23rd of August, 1974, and they started their new life together on Waverley Street. Their combined families gave them 10 adolescent children to raise under their roof. It was a time marked by graduations, weddings and the birth of many grandchildren. (continued next column) It was always a feast at mom and dads home. They made mountains of crepes for family and friends at their New Years Day brunches. After retiring from 18 years of service with H & R Block, Louise enjoyed a tranquil life with Louis. She loved her card parties, her bowling and spending time with her many children, grandchildren and friends. Inspired by her immense faith in the Lord, Louise brought love and joy everywhere she went. Her sense of humour, her vivacious spirit, her understanding of young people and her generosity were an inspiration for us all. Death held no fear for Louise. "God knows me" she would say. The family would like to thank St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent physical and spiritual care. We would especially like to thank Dr. Bracken, Dr. Wong and the nurses whose care Louise appreciated so much. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the Precieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny St., presided by Fr. Marcel Chaput. Viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service. A private interment will take place at a later date.
