VIRGINIA BOULANGER Peacefully in her sleep, at Central Park Lodge, Virginia Boulanger, born on September 26, 1910, went to be with Jesus on May 30, 2002. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nookom will be missed by her son Thomas Berens; cherished grandson Vernon McKay and daughter-in-law Florence Boulanger. She also leaves behind grandchildren, John, Marion (Kurt), Kathy (Dave), Annie (Marvin), Violet (Rudy), Glen (Dale), Noel (Alena), Yvonne, Errol (Leana), Sophie (Adam), George, Stanley, Fred and Darryl and special great-grandson Wendall. There are numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Tom; son Wilson, all her brothers and sisters; great-grandchildren, Margaret and Derek. Nookom loved children and visiting with family and friends. She was a midwife and a medicinal healer for most of her years. Nookom also enjoyed to knit and make moccasins up to when she was 90 years old. She enjoyed being outdoors, gathering medicines and berries. Nookom loved to fish and trap near her home in Berens River, MB. Prayers will be said on Friday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, Winnipeg. Wake services will be held on Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3 at the Berens River United Church. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Church, Berens River. Interment to follow at the Berens River Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darryl, Fred, Stanley, Wendall, Errol and Vernon. Nookom you will forever be in our hearts. Your words of wisdom shall guide us Through our journey in life, Your loving smile will remind us To treat each other with kindness, Your cheerful laughter will teach Us to enjoy life to the fullest, Nookom your unconditional love Will touch the hearts of us all and Generations to come.
