WINNIFRED JEAN BURR (nee MCNEIL)
Born: Aug 01, 1908
Date of Passing: May 30, 2002
Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED JEAN BURR (nee McNEIL) Peacefully at West Park Manor after a brief illness on Thursday, May 30, 2002. Born in Winnipeg August 1, 1908 "Winnie" was the eldest child to William and Mary McNeil. Predeceased by her parents, and brothers, Bill, Louis, and Doug; and sister Ivy, Wyn leaves fond memories with sister Alice Forrest and family of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Sola McNeil and family of Windsor, and Murl McNeil and family of Edmonton. Although Auntie Wyn never had children of her own, she was so dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews. Winnifred grew up in the West End of Winnipeg attending Principle Sparling School and then Success Business College. During her working career Wyn was employed by Wilson Furniture, Winnipeg until she married Bert Hughes and moved to Windsor where she worked as a Doctors Assistant. Upon her second marriage to Wayne Burr she moved to London, ON where she was employed in a ladies dress boutique until her retirement. Wyn moved back to Winnipeg in 1989 to live with her sister Alice until her residence with West Park Manor in August 2000. During her life Wyn enjoyed music (Scottish Choir), was a keen card player and an enthusiastic reader, and followed her favourite sports teams closely. Wyns real specialty though was people. She took a genuine interest in conversation and had an incredible ability to listen and remember detail of those accounts. With Wyn you always felt that your life mattered to her. Her gentle manner and positive attitude attracted many dear friends. Home, Love, and Kindness were her nature. Many thanks to Dr. J.R. Smart and to all the wonderful staff at West Park manor, Wyn truly though so much of you. The Worlds all right; serene I sit, And joy that I am part of it; And put my trust in Natures plan, And try to aid her all I can; Content to pass, if in my place Ive served the uplift of the Race. Truth! Beauty! Love! O Radiant Day - What ho! The Worlds all right, I say. Funeral service is at Chapel Lawn Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Saturday, June 8 at 12:30 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
