Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON S. EDMUNDS Peacefully, after a long illness, Gordon S. Edmunds went to be with his Lord on May 30, 2002. Predeceased by his father, sister, mother, brother and son David. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna; his daughter Carolyn (Robert Kosowan) and brother Stanley (Connie), cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordon grew up in St. Vital and after high school achieved honours for his work at Winnipeg School of Art. He operated Art Craft Manufacturing until enlisting in the Army. He served overseas and on his return was employed with Thompson Lumber and Fuel. In 1961 he became the Superintendent of Buildings for St. Vital School Division. He was very innovative in energy conservation long before it was the "in thing", belonged to the Solar Energy Society, Manitoba School Business Officials, American School Business Officials, B.C. School Officials and received a number of honours for his dedication and creativity in school construction and maintenance. He grew up in Regents Park United Church, becoming an elder in 1947, elected to the Clerk of Session a year later and was given lifetime ordination. He served for 19 years on many boards of the Church, presbytery and Home Missions. In 1967 he and his family transferred to Bethesda Church and he served as an elder. He was on the board of The Canadian Sunday School Mission (Manitoba) and the Canadian Bible Society (Manitoba). After retirement he and Edna worked as volunteers remodelling and constructing projects for the church, organizations and friends. He took up needlepoint and completed over 100 large pictures and then designed and completed over 100 large pictures and then designed and completed over 100 inspirational mottos which he donated to hospitals, missions, and individuals. His deep and practical faith in his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was reflected in his daily interactions of life. His integrity, sincerity and generosity permeated all he did. He was a tremendous Christian role model of husband, father and friend. His enthusiasm for life and his love of fun will be treasured memories. He was always happiest when his wife was by his side and was deeply appreciative of her constant devotion. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will take place prior to the service at 9:45 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordons name to Providence College and Seminary, Otterburne, MB, R0A 1G0, C.S.S.M. Ministries, 189 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1L7 or Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3M 2A7.
