ROY ASPER Suddenly on June 2, 2002, Roy Asper, our beloved father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 92 years. Roy immigrated to Canada in 1926 from Poland. Soon after he met and married his wife and life partner of 53 years, Tye Asper (Leshney). Roy worked for 25 years at Standard Produce and then went on to work for the CNR until his retirement in 1975. With a lifelong passion for work, Roy never really retired. He always found some job to keep him busy and he remained independent and active till his death. A true believer in physical activity, he walked two hours daily, summer and winter, even when his eyesight and hearing were failing. A spiritual man, he attended synagogue daily as well. Roy was a lifelong student and spent many hours reading and studying, one of his passions being chemistry. On Friday nights at family dinners, Zaida Roy loved to tell a story, teach a lesson or tell a joke or two. Roy will also be remembered for his passion and staunch support for Israel. His numerous trips to Israel were the highlights of his days. Roy was predeceased by his loving wife in 1990.
