MARY SEMPLE GARROD
Date of Passing: May 31, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY SEMPLE GARROD 1917 - 2002 Mary Semple Garrod peacefully passed away on May 31, 2002. Mary was predeceased by her husband George Edward Garrod. Mary was born and grew up in Winnipeg. As a young woman, she worked at the downtown Eatons Store. After "Ted" returned from the war, they married and Mary settled into family life. Mary and Ted used to caretake at the Lady Rozanne Apartments for many years and the friendships that developed with the residents of the apartment created a family environment. Marys passions were knitting and baking. She willingly shared these gifts with all of her "family" and friends. Many looked forward to the wonderful baking that just seemed to "appear" so effortlessly at Christmas and other special occasions. Whenever there was a birth in a family, Mary could be depended upon to have in place the lovely baby sweater for the trip home from the hospital. Many boys and girls have been kept warm over the last 50 plus years in "Aunty Marys" hand knitted hats, scarves, toques and mittens. Countless hours were spent lovingly knitting for her grandchildren. Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter Patricia (Michael), granddaughter Debbie and grandson Garrod. The family would like to acknowledge the care provided by Dr. Macmillan over the years prior to her move and for the last few years by Judy, Sandra, Irene and Margaret. In accordance with Marys wishes, a funeral service will not be held in her memory, however, cremation has taken place. A private is gathering planned. Donations in Marys memory may be made to the charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
