HERTA ERICA GUNTHER On June 2, 2002 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB, Herta Erica Gunther, aged 81 years of Faulkner, MB. Herta was born in Germany on April 29, 1921. She grew up in Germany and in February 1943 she married Kurt Gunther. In 1954 Kurt and Herta immigrated to Canada with their young son Lothar and Hertas parents. They lived in Winnipeg until 1960 when the family moved to their farm in Faulkner. Herta enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing her guitar and singing. Herta also enjoyed cooking and no one left her table hungry. Hertas family always came first and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons Darryl and Curtis. Herta was firm in her faith and attended the Baptist Church where she had many friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at the Moosehorn Baptist Church in Moosehorn, MB with Rev. Bernd Rist officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in the Moosehorn Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peter Schroedter, Lawrence Baker, George Solberg, Larry Filion, Bill Springer and Hilding Olson. Herta will be sadly missed by her son Lothar (Evelyn) grandsons, Darryl and Curtis (Katie) her sisters-in-law, Erna, Dora, Clara and Gerda; along with many nieces and nephews that are still in Germany. Herta was predeceased by her husband Kurt on January 4, 2000, her mother Mathilda in 1968, her father Heinrich in 1986, her sister Elizabeth in 1924, and her brother Helmet in 2001 and a sister-in-law Gerda in 2001. The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Isaacs and the nursing staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, the home care staff, Carrie, Margie and Joan and a special thank you to everyone who visited, wrote and phoned during her stay in the hospital. She treasured these times. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Runa Mangi, Box 591, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 "to be used in the Palliative Care Unit."
