THERESA HOWSON (nee LAPOINTE) Peacefully, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, Theresa Howson, age 63, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on June 3, 2002. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Leo; daughters, Sharon (Roger), Karen (Kent) and three grandchildren, Curtis, Amanda and Carly. She is also survived by her brother Ken (Clara) sister Linda (John) special sister-in-law Georgie; brother-in-law John from Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Narcisse (Dutch). Theresa was a volunteer at the Weston Memorial Community Centre for many years and received Volunteer of the Year in 1990. During her younger years she baby-sat many children from the Weston area and became a Mother figure to many of them. She also enjoyed spending time at the Legion playing the VLTs and chatting with her legion friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit for their care and compassion especially nurse Clare N. for being her spiritual support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Theresas memory to the CancerCare Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, 168 Worth, with Rev. Father Marc Monforton, O.M.I. officiating. A private family interment will follow at a later date. You can only have one mother, loving, kind and true. No other friend in all the world will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, she asked for nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, to our mother we could turn. For those of us who have a mother, treasure her with care, for you will never know her value, till you see that shes not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile, to sit and talk with her a while, to be together in the same old way, would be our dearest wish today.
