Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR EDWARD BANTING August 7, 1913 - June 4, 2002 Suddenly at home, Art passed away at 88 years young. He was predeceased by Connie, his loving wife of 54 years and five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by son Ron and daughter Margaret Munn (Peter), grandchildren, Kimberly Moore (Jim), Jodi, Corey, Tyler, and great granddaughter Grace. Also survived by his sister Fern Gibson (Bus) and brother Ralph (Addie) in-laws, Floyd and Kay Lovelace, Chid Lovelace, Dorothy Hofley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Art was born on the family farm near Atwater, SK. The family moved to Fairfax, MB for several years then finally settled in the Birch River area of Manitoba. In 1935 he moved to Flin Flon to work for H.B.M. & S., and during this time he met and married Connie Lovelace. In 1943 Art moved his family to Fort William, ON where he began working as a trainman/conductor for the CNR. After living in Fort William for several years the family moved to Winnipeg in 1953 where he continued working for the CNR until retiring in 1978. After his retirement he and Connie were fortunate to be able to travel to various parts of the world where they enjoyed all their new experiences from their travels. He became a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed his neighborhood, and took pride in his yard and garden. He was very handy, and enjoyed working with wood, and was always available to give advice or do anything for his family and friends. He was jokingly referred to as the chief inspector on the many handyman projects of others. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Following a private family interment, a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Good-bye, Grandpa LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
