Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET GIBSON BITZE (nee GARDINER) Peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2002, our dear mother Janet Gibson Bitze was promoted to glory and into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed greatly by her children, Marie (Wayne) Hollins, Leona Houle, Ken, Art (Lidia) daughter-in-law Lenore Bitze, Garry (Caroline), Shirley Ann (Tom) Cooney, as well as 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mom is also survived by her sisters, Gertrude Gardiner and Clara (Albert) Barkley and brother Howard (Irene) Gardiner. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1985, son Wayne in 1995 and son-in-law Gilbert in 2001. She was also predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Melissa Gardiner; sisters, Irene and Beatrice and brother Amos. Mom was born in Broomhill, MB on August 28, 1915, and married Dad in 1937. As a family we believe that the greatest legacy that Mom passed on to us was one of unconditional love for others. Her greatest example of that was not only in her commitment to her family and church but to the many years she and Dad spent as foster parents. Moms desire in life was to be committed wholly to serving the Lord and she took every opportunity to share the love of Christ with those around her. She was always involved in Christian service of some kind, childrens ministries, ladies ministries, singing, back yard bible clubs, seniors ministries, and missions to name a few. Mom faithfully supported many missionaries and as her health declined over the years she felt her service was to be a faithful prayer support. The last couple of years, Moms life was difficult as she coped with restricted mobility and speech as the result of several strokes. Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional and loving care Mom received at Calvary Place. Thank you also to Pastor Arden Boville and Henry Schultz and others who visited Mom over the last while and brought words of comfort to her. We do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thess. 4:13) A celebration of moms life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. Reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, R3E 3R6.
