MARY MERLE GREENWAY (nee TKATCHUK) Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, Mary, aged 73 years, passed away at the Beausejour Hospital with her family at her side. Mary was predeceased by her parents, William and Anastasia; her brothers, Mike and Bill; sisters Martha and Nettie, and by her son Aubrey. She is survived by her husband Gordon; sons, Gordie, Tim, Jim (Maryann) her daughter Cindy (Paul) granddaughters, Amanda, Lindsay, Heather; and brother George; also many nieces and nephews. Mary was born on November 9, 1928, at her parents homestead in Domremy, SK. She remained at home until Grade 8, then attended Domremy High. She started her teaching career in Birch River in 1946, after attending normal school in Winnipeg. She remained at Birch River until 1949, then moved on to Stratclaire in 1950. She taught for the next four years (1950 - 1954) at Selkirk, then in Transcona from (1954 - 1958). She then married Gordon Greenway and continued teaching in the Anola and Ostenfeld areas from (1960 - 1965). She substituted until 1969 in Anola and surrounding areas. Mary and Gordon moved to a farm near Vivian, in 1960, where they raised five children and enjoyed the quiet country living. Some of Marys interests were crocheting, gardening and reading. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E., Beausejour, with Rev. Jane Wetelainen officiating. Interment will follow at the Millbrook Cemetery where Mary will be laid to rest beside her son Aubrey.
